Thirty Atlanta restaurants and bars on this page have closed. We found them while building this site, because you cannot publish a city guide without checking whether the places in it are open.
Most guides quietly drop a closed restaurant and move on. We publish the closure instead. Planning an evening around a place you have been looking forward to, and finding a dark window, is a specific kind of disappointment, and it is almost always because nobody updated a page.
Two that show exactly why this page exists
Daddy D'z BBQ Joynt, the cinder block shack on Memorial Drive with a pig on the roof and a sign reading "I'm dyin' for Daddy D'z", closed at the end of December 2025 after opening in 1993. The landlord sold the property to The Conservation Fund for the Memorial Drive Greenway.
Its website is still live, still publishing seven-day hours, and still offering online ordering, delivery, pickup and catering. A local food guide's barbecue roundup still recommends it. Owner Christianah Coker-Jackson has said she wants to reopen the concept nearby, sign and all, but no address has been announced. Until then, every one of those pages sends somebody to a closed building.
Char Korean Bar & Grill in Inman Park is worse in a different way. It closed on 12 May 2025, and its old web address now redirects to an Indonesian gambling site. A current Atlanta restaurant guide still runs a live listing for Char with the address, the phone number and full hours, linking out to that domain. Follow an Atlanta food guide today and you can land on a slot machine.
The long-running ones
Ann's Snack Bar in Kirkwood, home of the Ghetto Burger and of Ann Price's famously non-negotiable house rules, closed in 2020 after 49 years.
Soul Vegetarian's West End room closed on 12 July 2026 after 47 years. Read that one carefully before you give up: Soul Vegetarian No. 2 in Poncey-Highland is open under new ownership. Only the West End room went dark.
Eats on Ponce, the jerk chicken and pasta counter that fed Atlanta cheaply from 1992, closed in 2025 after 33 years. The owners of Wild Heaven Beer bought it.
West Egg Cafe closed on 29 December 2024 after twenty years on the Westside. Its own closing page did something almost nobody does here: it pointed readers at where its pieces went, including the photobooth, which moved to Wood's Chapel BBQ.
Agave in Cabbagetown closed on 31 January 2026 after 26 years. Taco Mac's original Virginia-Highland room, where the chain started in 1979, closed in 2025 and Jack Brown's is taking the building.
Poncey-Highland and Inman Park
The Bookhouse Pub is gone. JavaVino closed in 2025 after 21 years. Julianna's Coffee & Crepes closed in July 2025 after twelve years, and a local brunch guide still lists it, filed under the wrong neighborhood.
BrewDog Atlanta closed on 9 March 2026.
Old Fourth Ward
Four rooms went at once at the end of 2025: La Metro, Sugar Shane's and Bully Boy all closed on 31 December. W.H. Stiles Fish Camp in Ponce City Market closed after ten years, and Noni's had already gone on 28 October 2023 after fifteen years.
Westside, West End and Buckhead
Zunzi's Westside room closed in 2025, though the brand trades elsewhere. Guac y Margys closed on 28 June 2026. Best End Brewing in the West End closed at the start of 2025 after six years.
Buckhead lost Alma Cocina on 20 December 2025, plus The Blind Pig Parlour Bar, Chido & Padre's and Taverna. Lure in Midtown closed on 30 August 2025 and Bulla Gastrobar is gone from Midtown too.
One room, not the whole restaurant
This is the distinction Atlanta guides get wrong most often. Farm Burger's Virginia-Highland room closed, not Farm Burger. Hudson Grille's Little Five Points room closed, not Hudson Grille. Same for Taco Mac, Zunzi's and Soul Vegetarian. If a list tells you one of these has closed, check which address it means.
What is not on this page
Three Atlanta names you may have heard are closed are open: Bacchanalia, Gunshow and Smith's Olde Bar. A low-quality blog listed Bacchanalia as closed and it is simply wrong. Smith's building sold in 2023, which started a rumour, and then Dan Nolen took a new lease.
One more is deliberately absent: Rodney Scott's in Summerhill was reported as a temporary closure, and temporary is not closed. We will not print it as permanent until somebody says it is.
And several venues that look closed are left off because the only evidence was a Yelp banner or a dead domain. That is not our standard. They are not listed as open either.
